of NAWIC. The ladies of the St. Louis Chapter embraced
the purposes and programs and are now an important
player in the Construction Industry of St. Louis.

The National Association of Women in Construction
(NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction
of Fort Worth, Texas. It was founded in 1953 by
16 women working in the construction industry.
Knowing that women represented only a small fraction
of the construction industry, the founders organized

The NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) was established
in 1973 by the National Association of Women in Construction
(NAWIC). NEF is an IRS 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization,
which means all donations are deductible as a charitable
donation. The Board of Trustees governs the Foundation.
